A customer needed exactly 465 nm. The other diode manufacturers could only guarantee 471 nm ± 5. That gap matters. In fluorescence excitation and precision spectroscopy, a few nanometers can shift your results enough to invalidate the measurement. Here is how we closed it. First, we reduced output power from 300 mW to 200 mW. Lower drive current shifts the emission wavelength physically toward shorter values. That got us partway there. Then we brought the diode temperature down from 25°C to 23°C. Temperature tuning added another ~0.5 nm in the right direction. Combined result: 465 nm. On target. No new component. No exotic optics. Just a precise understanding of how power and temperature interact with diode behavior, and the willingness to work through it with the customer. The customer never raised the topic of price. When a specification is met that no one else could meet, the conversation moves on to the next challenge.
